Tell The Gospel Truth Bishop Eddie Long,  T. D. Jakes, Joel Osteen, Rick Warren & Bishop Charles E. Blake Sr. etc. etc. etc.
By Samuel Marcus Brown

Each of these gentleman are very high profile pastors who've garnered national and international platforms as "Christian Leaders" who speak into the lives of God's people on a weekly basis.
They are to teach and preach 'The Gospel of Jesus Christ' right? Do they really preach 'The Gospel of Jesus Christ' or are they bound to spout and instill the customary prejudiced popular religious traditions of their forefathers?

I am sometimes puzzled and then I become frustrated when I listen to these leaders who are very influential and charismatic; they are very eloquent, intelligent, seminary trained and they fully understand the differences of teaching and preaching from the holy scriptures within the context of the text that they are presenting. If I were to speak in church language; they should be experts in rightly dividing the word of God. Would they rather preach and proclaim scriptural truth or take comfort in those religious traditions that has been ingrained into the brain of church society. Shouldn't the whole truth of the 'Gospel of Jesus Christ' be considered greater than the fear of  breaking flawed religious customs, traditions and doctrines?

Scripturally speaking; it is simply not a truthful, biblical or a Christian principle to condemn and rail against
same gender loving people or marriage equality for same gender loving people.
Jesus The Christ who is the Savior of this world certainly did not...

We must understand the verses of scripture within the context of the chapter within the text of the King James Version of the bible.
(please disregard the newer versions of the bible that biased, anti-gay individuals has tampered with and have added the word homosexual and other verbiage to deceive many)
Leviticus Chapter 20 & Chapter 18 seems to condemn bisexuality of sorts...
The notorious story of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis chapter 19 condemns gang rape just as it condemns gang rape in the extremely horrible story in the 19th chapter of Judges.
Romans 1st chapter was an incident in the bible that condemned a sect of heterosexual people who whole-heartedly and selfishly rejected God by participating in orgy and idol worship to idol gods of sex and animals. 1st Corinthian 6:9 condemns male prostitutes and their customers.
The above verses has been used divisively and traditionally to condemn same gender love and same gender loving people. Either of the verses does not have anything to do with love.

It really makes my skin crawl when these particular progressive forward thinking ministers are pressed for crucial answers on national and international stages & forums speaking to millions of God's people regarding sexuality and their personal beliefs; their canned answers is always the same popular answer that satisfy the masses of their faithful followers; "homosexuality is not God's best choice for people and that they believe that the bible condemns homosexuality and that they are following Christian principles."
I know that they must know better.

I was born and raised in one of the largest and most extreme anti-gay religious organizations;
The Church of God in Christ better known as C.O.G.I.C which has always had a pretty large number of closeted members which includes the deacons, missionaries, church mothers, ministers, elders, pastors and bishops who fight against their own sexuality. They gladly fall in line with the traditional anti-gay theology  which births ultimate hypocrisy on a very large scale.

Many more years of my life were spent in the congregation as a long time member of the now infamous Bishop Eddie Long's New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Even though he was known to bash and slash the many gay members in his congregation with cutting and down-right insulting sermons for many years; I still personally felt that he had a greater revelation of truth on the subject matter. I truly felt that he was on his way of becoming bold enough to declare contextual scriptural truth regarding sexuality as he boldly proclaimed truth and broke tradition in various areas of traditional religion in the congregation. I thought that the transparency that he seemed to display at times would supersede him and catapult his ministry to a level beyond the traditional prejudiced religious community.

I was sadly disappointed about the well known accusations of same sex encounters and the manipulation of several young men in the congregation against Bishop Long and I was much more disgusted when Bishop Long folded like one of the folding chairs in the church's social hall when he was faced with this personal adversity on a grand international level that required him to act with integrity and to lean-on and to not under-estimate the power of TRUTH.

After being indoctrinated in hypocrisy for most of my life; it is yet a struggle to unmask fully to my family and close friends so therefore I still pray for Bishop Long even though I left his congregation almost 2 years ago.

We are to study and interpret the bible historically correct. The definition of study is to learn about a subject by reading and researching.
The definition of interpret is to establish or explain the meaning/significance of something.
The definition of history is the past events of a period in time or in the life or development of a people, an institution, or place.
We should only quote scripture within the context of the matter.
The definition of context is circumstances or events that form the environment within which something exists or takes place.
Let us stop perverting the gospel of Jesus Christ and giving Christians a bad name with the personal prejudices of man-made religion.

The TRUTH of God's word understood in it's proper context will always confirm itself... TRUTH always arrives a little later than the speedy popular lies and customary deceptions that people tend to cling-to and engage themselves in... but once old TRUTH arrives it cannot be stopped or reversed; remember Colonial SLAVERY? There are many scriptures in the bible to justify slavery if they are taken outside of the context of which they were written.

I charge you as Christians and people of God to be guided by the truth of God's love and to lay down the dogma and prejudiced traditions of man's religion and live by the light of  God's love.

I'll leave you with this quote from my little book entitled 'Son of a Bishop, My Testimony' that has resonated with several people who've read it:

"Homosexuality carries such a stigma and a reproach in traditional Christian homes, churches, and the community at large. There are many men and women who will and has gone to great lengths to distort the truth about their own realities. Anytime you seek the approval of people who does not understand your reality and you allow their opinions to cause you to misrepresent your own life; self-hatred and self-destruction will set-in and your whole life of lies and not loving yourself will destroy you."

My Caution to Dan Cathy, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum & Rev. Billy Graham

The Last Shall be First and the First Last

by Samuel Marcus Brown

It is truly amazing to me how Dan Cathy, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum,  Rev. Billy Graham and all of the anti-gay Christian establishment has this belief system that stems from man's traditional "Christian" religion that supposedly serves the sovereign God our creator and Jesus the Christ who is my Lord and Savior who never spoke against same gender love or same gender marriage. The prejudiced tradition of their religion seems to trump the whole truth of the Bible that they are to live by; they thwart the 2nd greatest commandment of all
"Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself"

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE…?
by "The Urban Guru"

The "Urban Guru" is one of the frequent readers of this blog site of whom I've corresponded with via email on different occasions. D' in Philly now better known as the "Urban Guru" asked me if I've ever written a post on this particular subject matter? Our conversation via email took-on a life of it's own. D' in Philly eloquently articulated so much unbridled-truth in our correspondence until I asked him to write the post; he so graciously concurred and he wrote a very stimulating piece.
Get ready ladies and gentleman for an amazing, bumpy and eye-opening ride of truth & reality. So I am introducing to some and presenting to you all the
"The Urban Guru" who will be starting his own blog site very soon.

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE…?
by "The Urban Guru"

Although it has been a hot topic for a few years now, the subject of homosexuality among members of the "church scene" seems to meander from point to point, reference to reference, with no real direction.  This week, I became a little full, and felt the need to release my own frustration with the dialogue.

Because I have had down time from work, I've spent a lot of time online, following leads about people, reading about people I know and don't know.  What started out as an incidental landing on one minister's youtube video led me into an absolute whirlwind of facts, rumors and realizations.  It started with me learning of one young man who was a dynamic, up and coming minister in a Texas town.  I had no idea who he was and stopped in my tracks because of his picture.  The eyes said it all.  Then I found other videos of this man preaching and exalting God, yet saying so much more through subtle mannerisms and body language. Things that he probably wasn't even aware of, or thought he had under wraps.  Then I realized this man has been dead over twenty years now.  He was murdered by intruders into his home that he is said to have known.  The bells went off in my head.  Those bells many try to ignore.  There were other mentions that I began to read that led to the possibility that this man had been living another life, separate from what he displayed in the pulpit and that this life, had eventually caught up with him in a tragic way.

Then, during the same week, I got a text message from a friend letting me know that a popular musician and "Bishop" in my town had been found dead in his home.  A young man.  So sad, and such a loss of talent.  As I reminisced through his videos on youtube I ran across new ones I had never seen, those of him actually preaching.  And there he was, talking about people being loose in their morals and sexually unchaste.  Not that unusual, right?  Yes, if you take into consideration that this is the same man who has been seen, taking advantage of a particular clandestine location where one can participate in giving anonymous oral sex.
Having lived in several large East Coast cities over the years, I've heard many a story along these lines.  Even prominent ministers, out and about looking for chance encounters to ease their loneliness.  Often times, it seems they think they are incognito for some reason; that while going to the bath-house or traipsing about in the cruising park they won't be recognized.  Driving around in their cars late at night, looking for a chance hook-up with the trade of their liking; getting caught, locked up, having a revival to preach but needing someone to come to the jail to bail them out (in a semen stained shirt);  perhaps, joining a group of gay men for a stroll through New York City's Village, wearing clothing that the Saints would collapse in horror from if they saw the spectacle.  Even taking chances on having an encounter in the church itself, bringing a "date" back to the office or some secluded nook.  If memory serves me correctly, I think someone once told me he actually had sex on the pulpit, or at least in the sanctuary, of a church he didn't belong to.  If you ever have honest and revealing conversations with gay men, more and more of these stories pop up.

In 2012, at a time when the ways of obtaining instant media are numerous, scandals and their resulting fallout are available to everyone.  Most people in the church are aware of the mega scandals...the Eddie Longs....etc.  Those types of men have been involved in scandals for years.  It just used to take a much longer time to find out about them and they were more easily hushed.  But there seems to be a lack of attention being paid to the very things that are occurring in one's own, every day, run of the mill congregation.  For example, how many churches (even the small ones) deal effectively with the obvious passing of HIV among the gay men in their midst?  Yes, there are churches where there is a core of gay men who tend to hang out together outside the sanctuary, forming a "supportive" sub-community that often becomes incestuous, and deadly, once the virus has been introduced to the mix.  But as the deaths come, one by one, the church goes on, continuing as if there is no real problem.  After all, they brought that judgment down upon themselves didn't they?  And the focus, the bashing, the calling out, most always seems to be directed toward the men.  What about the gay women?  Oh that's right.  They more easily blend-in and hide themselves.  So, it's mostly the men who get bashed from the pulpit, those "homa-sexuls".  And its these men who often find themselves trolling about the city late at night, under the cover of darkness, looking for temporary fulfillment.

But this is nothing new.  We have all heard about these goings on.  The problem is that there has been no change in the way the church is dealing with it.  Obviously, there is a disconnect with the spiritual wellness of men who feel compelled to seek love in the wrong places.  Or to have a meaningful relationship, yet get into the pulpit and bash the very people they sought love from.  Or choose to remain single yet because of career goals, family commitments, even the hunger for recognition and power, play the role and appease the masses.  This more often than not, leads to a "hetero" marriage and even children; until the dust settles and the true yearnings become too great. The underlying issue has still not been dealt with and is psychologically maiming.  There is no way to live a well-adjusted adult life when there is such a huge burden to bear, day after day, year after year.  Then the irresponsible behavior starts.  How many gay people have been run away from the church and find themselves caught up in deviant behavior to ease the pain?  How many gay people have not turned to the church, when in need of spiritual care, because of the messiness of those in office?

I am so done with Black church.  I really am.  And although there are problems in all denominations, Black and otherwise, I'm talking just about the Black experience now.  And the more I think about it the more I'm convinced that most Black "religion" is just a little understanding of the truth of who God is...combined with some nice stories to make sermons out of...and some iconography gleaned from European religion.  Take that and mix it with a never ending quest for identity and belonging...and there you have it.  But alas, this is not meant to be a bashing of the Black church.  In fact, I love what the Black church represents.  However, I believe there has come a time for stepping back and reassessing just what is going on.  The type of church that helped usher in the civil rights movement may not be the same type of church that needs to deal with this new civil rights issue; whether to allow people to be who they are, without guilt or shame while tending to their spiritual growth.  For those who see it as simply an issue of sin.....if it were as simple as praying it away, or making someone go to special counseling sessions, or having a Donny McClurkin give a testimony, then we would see change.  And if one wants to talk of praying away "sin" then let’s pray away obesity, which is rampant in the church.  Let's pray away divorce.  Let's pray away the mixing of fibers in our clothes.  Let's pray away the eating of shellfish (lawd, that would throw some people in a tizzy and ruin their after church dinners).  I have never heard a mass alter call for any of these wrongs.

The spotlight is usually always directed toward gays: What about people who call themselves "bi-sexual"?  It would seem they have it easier because they can perpetrate the hetero life and slip in and out of gay encounters when necessary.  To me, this is even worse.  Making a commitment to someone and betraying that trust, I would think, should call for a greater rebuke.  However, in the church there are probably thousands of seemingly hetero couples who have various types of secret "setups".  The husband or wife is sneaking out for same sex encounters, or they may even have an open relationship, whether or not agreed upon.  Most often you find the husbands having "special friends" that they travel with, go on vacations with, or help get positions within the organization.  These are adult men, often with individual families and careers, who are for all intents and purposes - lovers.  I'm not even mentioning the pedophilia tendencies of many in the clergy.  And with all the various other secret deviant activity that is actually stewing below the surface, the church still continues to focus on GAY, GAY, GAY.  I could see if one taught against the irresponsible and whorish activities that seem to be easily enjoyed by many who are gay.  However, the totality of the ranting is primarily a dismissal of one's actual orientation or identification as a sexual being.  Yet, men and women in church office or dedicated in the pews, must function as productive members of the organization and even the outside community, while harboring a broken spirit and psyche.  And for those whose lives are almost totally wrapped up in a church denomination, this can be nothing but devastating.

This one issue, of whether a person can actually be in love with someone of the same sex, is so ingrained in the dogma of the church that it continues to cause the destruction of men and women who are still, in 2012, wandering the dark streets, taking dangerous people into their homes, going to conventions with lascivious intentions, lying to their spouses, having unprotected and uninformed sex and even losing their lives violently.  It is time for the church to reevaluate it’s approach to this issue.  It is also time for gay men and women, especially those in the church, to begin to respect and honor themselves and their "temples" so that the thoughts of destructive behavior are quieted and their lives can be lived more authentically and without church theatrics to cover the hurt.

I would like for you to forward this posting to some of your Christian and non-Christian friends & family.

The Choice of Sexuality

The Choice of Sexuality
By Samuel Marcus Brown

In light of our very courageous President who has taken a strong position in support of marriage for 2 people of the same sex; I would like to pose a couple of interesting questions and share some of the personal choices that I've made in my life.

Do you remember the day and the exact  time of when you decided to become attracted to a male or female?

Do you remember how you said to yourself that I think that I’ll try a woman today and then I’ll try a man tomorrow?

Think about that for a few minutes...

Those are pretty ridiculous questions aren’t they?

If you feel that you actually had a choice in choosing the gender that you genuinely have intimate, romantic, spiritual and sexual  attraction for; I’m afraid that you’re probably lying to yourself and to whomever you’re intimate with or may have dealt with intimately.

Choosing to wear blue contact lenses over your brown eyes is clearly a choice.

I chose not to lie anymore to myself, my family and friends and the women that I have had in my life.

I chose not to live by the beat of my ego and my masculine pride to marry a woman as a facade to satisfy my perceived image problem.

I choose to understand that sexuality is not nearly all about a sexual act.

I chose to hold on to my faith in God and to allow Jesus the Christ to be the Lord of my life when most in Christianity reject my authenticity.

I choose to study and understand the Holy King James Version of the bible within it’s proper context in order to reject the anti-gay religious tradition which is truly anti-Christ.

I choose to understand that the divisive and prejudiced anti-gay sentiment in Christianity was created by flawed people within Christianity and it certainly was not created by the loving and sovereign God my creator.

I choose to understand that the covenant of a union of love between 2 people and God is established well before the legally binding state contract of USA marriage which is a civil right for all people.

Ultimately, I choose and try to live my life authentically and unapologetic with integrity; these are some of the real choices that I have had to make.

Religious Church Folk Executed Jesus the Christ

Religious Church Folk Executed Jesus the Christ

Happy Easter in celebration of Resurrection Day

By Samuel Marcus Brown

If you were to study the life of Jesus the Christ and understand the reason of why God  the creator needed him (himself in flesh and blood as his son) to walk this earth as a human being. He created environments of love, sacrifice, repentance, feeding the poor, healing physical and mental needs of the people while imparting the importance of understanding the purpose of his life by foregoing the religious traditions of that day that required obeying the law of Moses and other rituals, ceremonies and traditions that consisted of sacrificial  blood of goats, oxen, sheep, bullocks and etc. to cover the sins of mankind and many other religious rituals and traditions of men posturing in the tabernacles and synagogues.

It was the traditional religious community who resented Jesus the Christ for his new teachings about the power of faith, love and repentance that now covers sin; they didn't like the fact that he healed people on the 7th day of the week which went against their religious traditions of keeping the sabbath day holy. They couldn't stand how Jesus called them out on their hypocrisy of the things that they did and allowed on the 7th day along with all of their other inconsistencies.

You must understand that Jesus was considered a trouble maker and a threat to their religious customs and traditions of that day; so much so that they put a hit out on him and they eventually caught him and executed him in the most inhumane way of executing someone of that day.

It was foretold  in the old testament of the bible that Jesus would revolutionize the world through his life, death, burial and resurrection. He did not come to abolish the law of Moses; he fulfilled it by the shedding  of his blood and becoming the sacrificial lamb for all of our sins. He is known today as the Lamb of God.

Believing and following the example of Jesus is simple, peaceful and restful. It is so unfortunate that today many traditional religious folk still undermine the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus the Christ by clinging to certain laws of Moses, religious rituals, judgment and traditions holding themselves and other of God's people in bondage; giving Christianity a bad name instead of walking in the truth of the New Covenant.

When Jesus left the earth resurrected back to heaven; he left the believers with a gift called the Spirit of Truth which is better known as the Holy Spirit which is the comforter and conscience of our souls.

Happy (Resurrection Day) Easter!

A great friend of mine forwarded an email entitled
 'THE (SCIENTIFIC) DEATH OF JESUS'
by an unknown author. I thought the timing was impeccable; so I decided to share it in this posting which will allow you to experience the full gravity of what you just read.
 May God Bless You All!

At the age of 33,
Jesus was condemned to the death. At the time crucifixion was the "worst" death. Only the worst
criminals were condemned to be crucified. Yet it was even more dreadful for Jesus, unlike other criminals condemned to death by crucifixion Jesus was to be nailed to the cross by His hands and feet.

Each nail was 6 to 8 inches long. The nails were driven into His wrist. Not into His palms as is commonly
portrayed. There's a tendon in the wrist that extends to the shoulder. The Roman guards knew that when the nails were being hammered into the wrist that tendon would tear and break, forcing Jesus to use His back
muscles to support himself so that He could breath.

Both of His feet were nailed together. Thus He was forced to support Himself on the single nail that
impaled His feet to the cross. Jesus could not support himself with His legs because of the pain so He was forced to alternate between arching His back then using his legs just to continue to breath. Imagine the struggle, the pain, the suffering, the courage.

Jesus endured this reality for over 3 hours. Yes, over 3 hours! Can you imagine this kind of suffering? A few minutes before He died, Jesus stopped bleeding. He was simply pouring water from his wounds. From common images we see wounds to His hands and feet and even the spear wound to His side... But do we realize His wounds were actually made in his body. A hammer driving large nails through the wrist, the feet overlapped and an even large nail hammered through the arches, then a Roman guard piercing His side with a spear. But before the nails and the spear Jesus was whipped and beaten. The whipping was so severe that it tore the flesh from His body. The beating so horrific that His face was torn and his beard ripped from His face. The crown of thorns cut deeply into His scalp. Most men would not have survived this torture.

He had no more blood to bleed out, only water poured from His Wounds. The human adult body contains about 3.5 liters (just less than a gallon) of blood. Jesus poured all 3.5liters of his blood; He had three nails hammered into His members; a crown of thorns on His head and, beyond that, a Roman soldier who stabbed a spear into His chest... All these without mentioning the humiliation He suffered after carrying His own
cross for almost 2 kilometers, while the crowd spat in his face and threw stones (the cross was almost 30 kg of weight, only for its higher part, where His hands were nailed).Jesus had to endure this experience, to open the Gates of Heaven, so that you can have free access to God. So that your sins could be "washed" away.
All of them, with no exception! Don't ignore this situation.

JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOU!

African Americans & Real Christians should be in the Forefront of Protesting Domestic & International Anti-Gay Laws

African Americans & Real Christians should be in the forefront of Protesting Domestic & International Anti-Gay Laws and Violence
By Samuel Marcus Brown

In January of 2011 David Kato from the African nation of Uganda was bludgeoned to death. He was murdered shortly after a tabloid newspaper published names and photos of men it alleged were gay. He was a promiment gay rights activist. The cover included the words, "Hang Them". Authorities contend Kato's sexual orientation had nothing to do with the murder.

In March 2009 a group of American evangelicals held rallies and workshops in Uganda discussing how to turn gay people straight, how gay men sodomized teenage boys and how “the gay movement is an evil institution” intended to “defeat the marriage-based society.”

Uganda is a country where homophobia is so severe that their Parliament is now considering a bill to execute gay people.
Val Kalende, the chairwoman of one of Uganda’s gay rights groups, said in a statement.
“The Ugandan government and the so-called U.S. evangelicals must take responsibility for David’s blood.”

It is shameful and disgusting that some "Christians" has taken their twisted misguided interpretations of the bible; assigning them to come straight from the great sovereign God; it is this kind of narrow-mindedness which is the driving force behind the ignorant bigotry and prejudice that is being perpetuated by this religious group of anti-Christ Christians who call themselves evangelicals. They completely demoralize the Gospel of Jesus Christ and disrespect his sacrafice and then they mis-represent God's divine love and undermine his sovereignty; they should repent to the world.

As a follower of Jesus Christ, I love the Lord God with all of my heart who've given me a peace that surpasses all of the misunderstanding of the deep seated traditional religious prejudices of men which has absolutely nothing in common with Jesus Christ.

I have never participated nor have I ever had any kind of proclivity for pedophilia, beastiality, gang rape or orgies; which is also true for most of the same gender loving people that I know. I have never been molested nor have I ever molested anyone. However, I do know of more heterosexual people who've committed the mentioned offenses and have experienced molestation.

As I mentioned in my previous post; I would like for all Christians and non-Christians to restudy the bible in regards to sexuality and to re-study those 5 or 6 isolated misused verses within the historical context of who it was written to, when and why it was written.
Please remember that U.S.A  African slave owners professed to be Christians and they arrogantly misused and abused the many scriptural references about slavery to justify their hate and greed.

Unfortunately it is the man-made Religious Establishment (not Christ or true Christians) that has faithfully & carelessly defined same gender love/homosexuality as sin. If you love God, you will then keep his commandment of loving your brother as you love yourself; love does not inflict the religious tradition of taking scripture completely outside of it's original context to demonize your brothers and sisters in order to uphold man-made doctrinal prejudicial traditions. Proper scriptural context is the key.
Happy Black History Month!

For the Love of God... Stop it!

For the Love of God... Stop It!
By Samuel Marcus Brown

Happy New Year & Welcome to 2012! It's a new season and a new day and it's time to get our houses in order as Christians and non-Christians. We need peace for our mind, body and our souls. I'm talking about a sober and divine peace that will allow you to remain peaceful and restful even when everyone around you may give you a pass to worry, fret and to even act out your life in some destructive manner.

I know that over the years and probably most of your life; traditional church folk has gone rogue and have carelessly ridden roughshod over your heart, mind and have even trampled your soul by handing down an ungodly, unjust judgment of taking the word of God completely out of scriptural context to demonize your God given sexuality.
I have dealt with each of those misused scriptures quite handily on this blog site; please spend the time to understand for yourself.

If you are one of those who have ignorantly (I say ignorantly in the most loving way) inflicted that kind of pain to some of God's children in his name; for the LOVE of our God, please stop upholding those man made prejudiced traditions and assigning them as coming directly from the sovereign God (i.e. U.S.A. slave owners with scriptural references professed to be Christians) and re-study God's word within the historical context of when and why it was written; you "miss the mark" when you condemn a people that God nor his son Jesus the Christ has never condemned.

If you are a non-Christian and have become a victim of the traditional Christian church who has rejected the essence of who you are; I implore you to stop and study or re-study the life and love of Jesus the Christ in the New Testament (starting with Matthew) in the King James Version of the bible. "many of the modern versions of the bible has inserted anti-gay verbiage"

I promise you that the sovereign God who manifested himself as a man through his son Jesus the Christ who walked this earth (this has been documented by theologians and other scholars) over 2,000 years ago does not reject your sexuality (which is not sinful in itself) and he loves and cares about you more than you could ever know.
John 3:16For God so LOVED the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

When you start to read and understand who Jesus the Christ really was and who and how wonderful he really is and what he he requires of you... you will be amazed of the simplicity of becoming a follower of Jesus Christ. (the word 'Christian' has been muddied up so badly by church folk)

While reading and understanding the bible; you may be overcome with a calm and a peace that surpasses all of the misunderstandings of the venomous anti-gay religious politics of  man made customs and traditions that has been forced upon us for generations.

I'll leave you with these words from when Jesus had just admonished the people in these certain towns; they witnessed many miracles and still did not believe.
Matthew 11:28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
