The Choice of Sexuality

The Choice of Sexuality
By Samuel Marcus Brown

In light of our very courageous President who has taken a strong position in support of marriage for 2 people of the same sex; I would like to pose a couple of interesting questions and share some of the personal choices that I've made in my life.

Do you remember the day and the exact  time of when you decided to become attracted to a male or female?

Do you remember how you said to yourself that I think that I’ll try a woman today and then I’ll try a man tomorrow?

Think about that for a few minutes...

Those are pretty ridiculous questions aren’t they?

If you feel that you actually had a choice in choosing the gender that you genuinely have intimate, romantic, spiritual and sexual  attraction for; I’m afraid that you’re probably lying to yourself and to whomever you’re intimate with or may have dealt with intimately.

Choosing to wear blue contact lenses over your brown eyes is clearly a choice.

I chose not to lie anymore to myself, my family and friends and the women that I have had in my life.

I chose not to live by the beat of my ego and my masculine pride to marry a woman as a facade to satisfy my perceived image problem.

I choose to understand that sexuality is not nearly all about a sexual act.

I chose to hold on to my faith in God and to allow Jesus the Christ to be the Lord of my life when most in Christianity reject my authenticity.

I choose to study and understand the Holy King James Version of the bible within it’s proper context in order to reject the anti-gay religious tradition which is truly anti-Christ.

I choose to understand that the divisive and prejudiced anti-gay sentiment in Christianity was created by flawed people within Christianity and it certainly was not created by the loving and sovereign God my creator.

I choose to understand that the covenant of a union of love between 2 people and God is established well before the legally binding state contract of USA marriage which is a civil right for all people.

Ultimately, I choose and try to live my life authentically and unapologetic with integrity; these are some of the real choices that I have had to make.

I would love to hear your comments after you have spent some time perusing this site. If you have an experience that you would like to share and you would like to have it posted/featured on this site, email or just click comment below this line.

U R the man!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way U posed the questions on choices!!! How could one NOT get the point if they seriously listened 2 your questions!!! EVRYONE needs 2 B asked those questions…if nothing else but 2 make U THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It should B just that simple. It’s SO frustrating 2 me that it’s not!!! Your examples & questions were BRILLIANT!!!!

I have read this 3 times today!!! It’s so profound! I love the way U break it down..especially about the flawed people who called themselves coming up with some BS guidelines!!! U Rock!!!

Thanks again for blessing me/us with your words of wisdom!!!

I like your mission, I like your questions, I like where you're going.

I've sat through the NT and transcribed every word into a way that could actually make sense if you see it this way: when we humans tap into the highest parts of us, the parts which make truth, love, and beauty flesh, we are embodying God's will. I have so much to learn yet I feel like we could work together to rebuff people who use the Bible to condemn homosexuality.

As a Christian I believe that Jesus' commandments to love God and love your brother as yourself are fulfilled when any two consenting adults are brought into tender union.

I see that you are in-tune with scriptural truth. I really appreciate you taking your time to respond in such a profound manner. Yes, I believe that we can work together succinctly in order to rebuff those who take scripture outside of it's context to inflict pain in God's name.

Thank You!
