Thou Shalt Love Thy Neighbour as Thyself

Galatians 5:14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt LOVE thy neighbour as thyself.

This is one of the most powerful and the most necessary of all passages in the bible that defines your spiritual walk with Christ other than truly believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Can you imagine what kind of world this would be if we all LOVED our neighbors as we LOVE ourselves in this Godly manner: God's Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways. And because we belong to Christ Jesus, we have killed our selfish feelings and desires. God's Spirit has given us life, and so we should follow the Spirit. But don't be conceited or make others jealous by claiming to be better than they are. (Galatians 5:22-26 CEV)
These are truly the qualities of a holy and moral person.

A dictionary definition of LOVE is a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. A feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.

Believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the commandment to LOVE one another supersedes all 66 books of the bible and it trumps the Mosaic/Levitical Law that was in place for the Israelites before the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Some very "religious people" refuse to accept that the "Law of Moses" served its purpose for those people in history. Some have boldly gone against scripture to preserve parts of the Law of Moses by distinguishing Ceremonial and Moral Law which has no scriptural basis in separating the two. The New Covenant is crystal clear that we are not under the rule of the Mosaic Law (Rom. 6:14; 7:1-14; Gal. 3:10-13, 24-25; 4:21; 5:1, 13; 2 Cor. 3:7-18). The instructions given by Jesus Christ from the words of life in the New Covenant (New Testament) are very sufficient for living a moral & holy life. Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt LOVE thy neighbour as thyself. This scriptures sums up all of the arguments and refuting concerning the Mosaic/Levitical Law.

The Christian Fundamentalist loves to discount this very crucial passage to it's lowest price and in most cases they refuse to include this scripture in their budget when it comes to their behavior in demonizing Homosexuality/Same Gender Loving People. Why is that? The content of this web site is loaded with scriptural proof and reasoning of that when you interpret the holy scriptures historically correct through the Spirit of Truth; homosexuality is not sin.

If you leave out the traditional disguise and coloration of blanketing the body of Christ (the church) with historic examples in the bible that speaks to male prostitution and the rampant orgy and idol worship for what occurred in that space in history by telling complete bible truths; then you will clearly see that Jesus Christ and the New Covenant does not condemn homosexuality; it condemns the ills of one's sexuality such as promiscuity and prostitution for females as well as males.

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt LOVE thy neighbour as thyself.

You’re right on track. Perhaps, we’ve gotten too complicated with Christianity and should get back to basic, because essentially, nothing that represents America Christianity is true Christianity. Our modern-day American Christianity is tainted with racism, sexism, homophobia, and unconcerned about the poor (i.e., healthcare reform). In some measure, black folks have become just as self-absorb as white Christians, when “we” held the moral high ground but have failed in our attempts at embracing the most fundamentals of Christianity and that is love.

Samuel,
I have been very actively involved in supporting the LGBT community. It is within this community that I have always found complete acceptance and as divorced/single parent of 5 children it is extremely important to me. I don't teach "tolerance" but rather acceptance, as I have been places where - as an African -American I am simply "tolerated" and found it to be an uncomfortable experience. To be accepted as you are, means that you are appreciated for the unique individual that God created you to be. I was saddened to learn the other day that E.Lynn Harris died. The characters in manuscripts captivated me and his life story was an incredible gift to anyone who was fortunate to read his works. I hope you are well and will continue to read your blogspot. If you have the opportunity, please look at blog that I have started - www.thisblackwomansopinion.wordpress.com and tell me what you think.

Please take care.

Hi Samuel

I thought your latest comments on homosexuality and the church were quite interesting. I do agree that the operative word in the Bible (new or old testaments) is LOVE. That being said, I also agree that while there are comments about promiscuity and abusive forms of sex, I see nothing from Christ in regards to SGL relationships. Further, I emphasize the word relationship because I know in my heart that the 13-year relationship I had with my ex-lover was one that the Lord blessed NOT cursed.

Hello Sam,
I watched your You Tube segment. I enjoyed it. I thought it was insightful. I do agree with your father. I think you could have expanded that book and made it into a novel that shows that your family upbringing is not unlike many people. I think many people, parents and children, could and would relate to it. Think about it. And if you do, I surely would like to be a part of helping you put it together or playing an editing role in that. Like I said at the top of this message, you have become sort of an authority because you have searched the Bible and explain your stance with such confidence and calmness. You do not come across as someone who is trying to convince people to believe what you believe, you just encourage them to seek the knowledge for themselves. I like that. And that is unlike what most pastors do, who beat people over the head with scriptures and not tell the full story. Thanks bruh! Much love to you! Keep in touch, regardless.

I bought your book last night, and read it right through in two sittings last night and today. What an encouragement! I especially loved the letter you received from your dad at the end. How blessed to know that your dad still loves you, no matter what! That is the mark of a good parent. A Godly parent.

Blessings
Meg

Sir,
Love thy neighbor was in the Lev law. Leviticus 19:18.

It is the very law you (all men) have broken, not kept, and are under God's judgement for. To say you have kept the law, makes you a modern day Pharisee, and apparently that's just the start of your troubles.
